Our country has always been a distribution center to America and the World of various types of merchandise.

Currently, with the fast growing pace of the Colón Free Trade Zone and the recent setting up in our country of the Export Processing Zones, Industrial Property has much more importance in our country, especially all issues regarding trademarks.

For this reason, the Republic of Panama is a pioneer and an active member of several commercial organizations in the area, and is signatory to the most important International Agreements which regulate Trademarks as well as Industrial and Intellectual Property.

Locally, the Directorate of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries is the state entity in charge of supervising the compliance with the rules related to industrial property and, specially, of controlling the Registry of Trademarks and Patents in Panama.
