For this reason, the Republic of Panama is a pioneer and an active member of several commercial organizations in the area, and is signatory to the most important International Conventions which regulate Trademarks as well as Industrial and Intellectual Property. 

Locally, the Directorate of  Domestic Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries is the state entity in charge of supervising the compliance with the rules related to industrial property and, specially, of controlling the Registry of Trademarks and Patents in Panama.

It is a country’s priority to ensure that the analysis, supervision and control of the quality of medicines, goods for human health, food, as well as the premises used for the production, distribution, and storage of such products comply with the quality standards provided by national and international sanitary rules and regulations in force, with the objective that the population safely and effectively acquires and uses such goods.

Consequently, any product of this nature traded within the Republic of Panama shall previously obtain a Sanitary Registration, issued by the Ministry of Health.
